Members' Choice: Pick the Next Film

We had about twenty people in February to see Hacking Democracy. Then in March, only one person wanted to see Spin. So, I'm opening it up to you all. What do you want to watch next?

Look through the list below and then vote here for your choice. As soon as there appears a perceptible preference I'll start of the films again.

The New Math of American Elections

This movie is an even-handed exposition of the voting machine problem.

Based on the graphic novel, this film depicts the life of a girl in Teheran as she grows up amidst the Iranian revolution, the Iran/Iraq war, and beyond. It's really nice to get to know a few specific Iranian individuals instead of thinking of the country as a mass of all the same people.

Road to the Presidency

Three documentaries in one, covering Bill Clinton in the 1992 primary, convention, and debates.

The Hunting of the President

Another one about Clinton. On the one hand, who wants top relive all that again? On the other hand, it might be good to brush up because we have another Democrat in power now and history could repeat itself all too soon. If it does, I will not just stand around this time.

Bush's Brain

I for one am looking forward to this one. It would do me some good to learn more about that scalawag.

Underground Railroad

The underground railroad is one of my favorite things about American history. Not particularly relevant in these times, though. Or is it?

One Nation. Under Stress. In Debt.

This came out even before the bailouts. Find out why you own $183,000.

Noam Chomsky Rebel Without a Pause

Back in college all my friends raved about Chomsky but I never checked him out. Now would be a good time.

American Blackout

What do minorities think about our voting system? Voting machines are the least of their problems. Might be good to compare with this.

Is It True What They Say About Ann?
A Documentary About Ann Coulter

Another love-to-hate-em biography. Somehow I think this one will get a lot of votes.

Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room

Remember when we got outraged by billions?

Last Man Standing
Politics, Texas Style

That's right, you're not from Texas, but Texas loves you anyway! This one deserves at least some consideration because, clocking in at a merciful 56 minutes, it's the shortest one of the bunch.

A Crude Awakening

Are you ready to use less energy? Do you realize how much you use? You might not, even if you think you do. If you're into things like planning for the future, this might interest you.

The Power of Community
How Cuba Survived Peak Oil

If they can do it, we can.
